Honu is a street and outdoors wear brand that aims to create modern-day clothing inspired by Aotearoa and the beauty of our moana (ocean) taiao (nature) and ahurea (culture).

Our goal is to make street and outdoors wear inspired, designed and made at home that you can wear whether your out exploring the outdoors, or in town.

Kua kōwhiri mātou te ingoa nā te manawanui o te Honu i t tana haerenga roa huri noa te moana.

Our name 'Honu' is the te reo Māori kupu for Turtle.

Turtle's venture the wide ranges of the pacific, from Hawaii down to the northern parts of Aotearoa and represent the spirit of perseverance, endurance and adventure that we want Honu to embody.

'Honu manawa rahi' or 'A turtle with a big heart (breath)' is a Māori whakatāuki that describes a person with perseverance and endurance like the turtle that journeys the wide ranges of the ocean. 

While we are starting slow with what we can afford to make our hope is for Honu to expand to a brand that creates outdoor and adventure-wear that can be worn to explore and adventure, like the turtle from which we draw our name. 

We also want to make our clothing affordable and attainable. Any tautoko of our young brand is much appreciated.
